Serenity at Work reimagines the grocery and distribution facility as a worker-centered ecosystem that prioritizes well-being alongside operational efficiency. Located at 800 South and 900 West in Salt Lake City, the project challenges conventional industrial environments by embedding comfort, transparency, and sustainability into its design.
An elevated delivery dock streamlines logistics while defining public and operational zones. Inside, clerestory glazing and skylights introduce natural light into processing areas, creating a healthier work environment. Open sightlines foster transparency in workflow, reinforcing collective contribution and safety.
Break spaces, shaded outdoor seating, rooftop gathering areas, and amenities such as showers and a deli support workers before, during, and after shifts. The public grocery area features a color-coded shelving system that communicates product environmental impact, transforming shopping into an educational experience.
Behind the scenes, organized recycling and compost systems—including a dedicated compost facility—reinforce the project’s commitment to circular practices. More than a workplace, Serenity at Work demonstrates how industrial architecture can support wellness, sustainability, and a calmer rhythm of labor.
